Is MRI safe if I have implants or metal in my body? (MRI)

MRI uses strong magnets, so certain implants (pacemakers, cochlear implants, metal clips) may not be safe. Always inform our team beforehand so we can assess compatibility.

What if I feel claustrophobic during the scan? (MRI)

If you feel anxious in enclosed spaces, inform us in advance. We can provide reassurance, guidance, or mild sedation if required.

What is contrast dye and is it safe? (CT Scan)

Contrast dye improves visibility of organs and blood vessels. It is generally safe, but:

  • Inform us if you have allergies, asthma, or kidney problems 
  • You may be advised a creatinine test before contrast CT

Is ultrasound safe during pregnancy? (Ultrasound)

Yes, ultrasound uses sound waves (no radiation) and is completely safe for both mother and baby.

How long do radiology procedures take? (General)

  • X-ray: 5–10 minutes 
  • Ultrasound: 15–30 minutes 
  • CT scan: 10–20 minutes 
  • MRI: 20–45 minutes

When will I receive my radiology reports? (Reports)

  • X-ray & Ultrasound: Same day or within a few hours 
  • CT/MRI: Within 24 hours (may vary for complex cases)

What should I wear for a scan? (Clothing)

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. Avoid metal accessories, zippers, or jewellery. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.

Can I eat or take medicines before a scan? (Food & Medication)

  • Depends on the test (fasting required for some scans) 
  • Continue regular medications unless instructed otherwise 

Are radiology tests safe for children? (Children)

Yes, all procedures are performed with special care using minimal radiation exposure when required. Pediatric protocols are followed.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for imaging? (Follow-up)

Yes, most imaging tests require a doctor’s prescription to ensure appropriate and safe investigation.
