Department of Cytology
- Detect cancer and precancerous conditions at an early stage
- Differentiate benign from malignant lesions
- Diagnose infections and inflammatory diseases
- Evaluate cysts and swellings
- Monitor previously diagnosed conditions
- Guide further treatment and surgical planning
Every specimen is carefully examined by experienced consultant pathologists to ensure accurate interpretation and clinically meaningful reporting. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a simple, safe, and minimally invasive procedure used to evaluate lumps, swellings, and enlarged lymph nodes. A thin needle is used to collect cells from the affected area, which are then examined under a microscope by a consultant Cytopathologist. Body fluids often contain valuable diagnostic information that can help detect infections, inflammatory disorders, and cancers.
Our laboratory performs detailed cytological examination of various body fluids to identify abnormal or malignant cells and determine the underlying cause of fluid accumulation.
Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC) Pap Test
Benefits of Liquid-Based Cytology
- Improved specimen quality
- Better preservation of cervical cells
- Reduced unsatisfactory samples
- Enhanced detection of precancerous lesions
- Improved diagnostic accuracy
- Allows additional testing, such as HPV testing when indicated
Regular cervical screening using LBC plays a critical role in detecting abnormal cervical cell changes before they progress to cervical cancer.
